Background and Patient Care Philosophy

Dr. Fletcher grew up in the Pacific Northwest. He earned his undergraduate degree in Health Science at Walla Walla University and his M.D. degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Fletcher then went on to complete an integrated plastic surgery residency and three additional subspecialty fellowships. Dr. Fletcher is committed to providing the highest level of surgical care to his patients. He believes that the patient-physician relationship is the most critical element of patient care and enjoys spending the time necessary to understand each patient’s concerns and surgical goals.

Dr. Fletcher joined Plastic Surgery Northwest in 2018. He and his wife, Molly, enjoy time with family, fly fishing, biking, climbing, camping, and riding their two horses, Firefly and Sparrow.

Prior to joining Plastic Surgery Northwest, Dr. Fletcher was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. While at UNMC, Dr. Fletcher worked closely with outstanding faculty members and staff to create the only microsurgery breast reconstruction program in the state of Nebraska.

Surgical Training

Fellowship: Facial and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Mark Codner, MD

Dr. Fletcher completed a Facial and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Codner. Dr. Codner is an internationally recognized expert in facial plastic surgery, oculoplastic (eyelid) surgery, and breast surgery. This experience gave Dr. Fletcher the opportunity to learn advanced techniques in the following areas: browlift, facelift, cheek lift, neck lift, upper and lower eyelid procedures, chin procedures, and rhinoplasty.

Fellowship: Reconstructive Microsurgery, University of Pennsylvania

The University of Pennsylvania Microsurgery Fellowship Program is among the busiest breast reconstruction centers in the world. During his time at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Fletcher learned the latest techniques in perforator flap breast reconstruction, including DIEP, SIEA, SGAP, IGAP, PAP, TUG, and other surgical strategies for advanced reconstruction following cancer and trauma.

Fellowship: Hand Surgery, The Curtis National Hand Center

The Curtis National Hand Center is considered one of the preeminent hand surgery training programs in the country for both plastic and orthopedic surgeons.  This unique training experience combined the strengths of both specialties, arming Dr. Fletcher with expertise in upper extremity soft tissue management, fracture care, joint surgery, tendon and ligament reconstruction, and nerve surgery.

Residency: Integrated Plastic Surgery, The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center

The University of Pittsburgh Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency program is consistently ranked among the top three programs in the country. This rigorous training program included six clinical years and one research year. “Pitt Plastic Surgery” is well known for its diverse, high-volume training experience and has produced numerous national leaders in this specialty. During his time at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Fletcher was honored to be a part of the Hand Transplant Program, serving as the Composite Tissue Allotransplantation Fellow and assisting in the care of all patients who received hand transplantations. Dr. Fletcher also had the opportunity to learn from national leaders in body contouring surgery, cosmetic surgery, complex reconstruction, microsurgery, and hand surgery.

Medical School: University of Washington School of Medicine

While attending medical school at the University of Washington, Dr. Fletcher received the Warren G. Magnuson Scholarship award for excellence in basic science research.
