Breast Lift Northwest Spokane, WA

Loss of skin elasticity, gravity and factors such as weight loss, pregnancy, and breast-feeding affect the shape and firmness of your breasts.

These changes may be mitigated by a breast lift procedure. You may consider breast lift surgery if your breasts have settled or if your nipples and areolas point downward, especially if they are positioned below the crease under the breast. Patients who are generally satisfied with the size of their breasts can have a breast lift to reposition the breast tissue, nipple, and areolae, resulting in a more youthful breast contour. Patients who are unhappy that they have lost breast volume, while also experiencing changes in the shape of their breasts, may benefit from placement of an implant to replace lost volume in addition to repositioning the breast with a lift. Placement implants may be done at the same time as a lift, or may be planned as separate procedures to optimize an individual’s results.

At Plastic Surgery Northwest in Spokane, we focus on your individual factors and personal preferences to determine the specific technique to lift your breasts. A common method of lifting the breasts involves three incisions. One incision is made around the areola, another runs vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease underneath the breast. The third incision is horizontal beneath the breast and follows the natural curve of the breast crease. Through these incisions, excess breast skin is removed and the nipple and areola are shifted to a higher position. The areola, which in a sagging breast may have been stretched, can be reduced in size. The nipples and areolas remain attached to underlying breast tissue, usually allowing for the preservation of sensation and the ability to breast-feed.

The incisions from your breast lift surgery will heal and fade over time, a process that takes over a year to complete. It is important to realize, however, that the incision lines will be permanently visible. In some instances, they will eventually be only faint lines. Certain individuals may have incision lines that are more noticeable. Fortunately, the incisions for your breast lift are in locations easily concealed by clothing.
